New Motor Vehicle Sales

New motor vehicle sales is a measure of the number of new motor vehicles sold, including: trucks, vans, coaches, buses, minivans, sport utility vehicles, and other passenger cars. It is an indicator of consumer spending and is closely tied to consumer confidence. The decision to purchase a vehicle showcases individual's outlook about the current and expected future state of the economy.

Highlights

  • On a seasonally-unadjusted basis, new motor vehicle sales in Saskatchewan increased by 15.3%, from 3,045 in December 2022 to 3,511 in December 2023. Saskatchewan ranked seventh in percentage change among the provinces. The national average increased by 16.3%.
