New Motor Vehicle Sales

New motor vehicle sales is a measure of the number of new motor vehicles sold, including: trucks, vans, coaches, buses, minivans, sport utility vehicles, and other passenger cars. It is an indicator of consumer spending and is closely tied to consumer confidence. The decision to purchase a vehicle showcases individual's outlook about the current and expected future state of the economy.

Highlights

  • On a seasonally-unadjusted basis, New Motor Vehicle Sales in Saskatchewan increased by 122.6% from 1,837 in April 2020 to 4,090 in April 2021. Saskatchewan ranked tenth in percentage change among the provinces. The national average increased by 250.9%.
